Labor Day

Back to the farm (can you tell we went a lot this summer?) for Labor Day and the Home Run Derby. Luckly, the field is right next to a massive playground. The Derby can take 3 hours sometimes if there's a tie (and of course this year, there was) so it gave the girls something to do.
This was their first time on a tire swing- I think they liked it. :)

The girls found a spicket thing and cooled off.  They were soaking wet but I couldn't say I blamed them.

Worlds of Fun

We took Will and the girls to Worlds of Fun on a cooler day in August and the kiddos had a blast. Before we could even get started, we were walking by the rip cord and my mom said, "Yeah. I'm doing that." No hesitation, no second thoughts. My mom is a total badass.

Emerson. Was. Devastated.

She was so upset that grandma was going up so high and being "dropped." It was sweet...

So Will consoled her.

Last  year Easton was afraid of Snoopy so it was cute that she went in for the kiss this year.

"Best day ever!!!"

"But we're up pretty high..."

Summer Fun

We made a specific trip to the farm this year just for some sweet corn. It did not disappoint. The girls got in on the shucking and after we explained to Emerson not to also throw away the actual ear of corn, we were good to go.

 

Then we came back to KC for Sunday Night Dinner and Angry Birds pizza. 

 

Katie Mac came into town so we did the couch picture again.  We're running out of room!

We finally got to meet Stacy and Jeremy's littlest one, Mason.  He was good for Emerson...

...but had had it by the time Easton got to him.

By the end of t-ball, Emerson had really gotten the hang of it and enjoyed herself.  She was learning how to field ground balls and I got a shot of her reaction to finally getting one.  Fuzzy picture, but priceless.

Her favorite part may have been getting to eat sunflower seeds.  We had to convince her to set them down to put her glove on.

After her last game, dad let Easton run the bases too.

4th of July

4th of July was a scorcher this year but we still decided to go to the Sugar Creek Parade. My mom told us about it so we decided to give it a try. I always went to the Lamoni parade and sat on my grandma's lawn on Main Street so this felt like something fun to do. The girls loved it and I think it may become a new tradition.

 

 

We got some (very basic) fireworks and they had a great time.

 

If you've seen Tangled, you'll get the lantern idea.  I, however, did not think things through.  Emerson was great with lighting the candle.  Emerson was not okay with the lantern disappearing into the sky.  Maybe a no for next year but it made for some pretty cool pictures...
