When It Rains...

... it pours! I wasn't in any hurry for Emerson to start crawling but she started a couple of weeks ago and we've had more and more firsts- first tooth (it's barely poking through- Ryan thinks I'm lying because he can't/hasn't seen it), started crawling and now she's pulling up on everything on her own and "cruising" also. We went from an immobile baby to a mover and a shaker! So we've been frantically baby proofing our house and after tirelessly blocking her head from the coffee table, we just moved it out of the room completely. It's a much nicer space for her to crawl around- we just have to worry about the fireplace now. I've got the spongy things to stick on the edges- very classy. I guess we passed classy when my breast pump became a permanent fixture in our living room...

A couple of weeks ago, I got together with two girls I work with at Smokehouse. They both have little boys who are 9 months old- one of whose names is Emerson! It was so fun watching these three little babies playing together. Later that day at my mom's house is when my Emerson crawled for the first time- I guess she was tired of seeing other kids being able to move around!

Go Jackets!

I was very disappointed we didn't get to go to Homecoming this year (read: show off Emerson-) my mom got tickets for us (Amber, Will and me) to go see the Lion King on Saturday. I was sad when the Fish called me from the Pizza Shack but the show was amazing. For those of you who live in the KC area, it was well worth the money (my mom) spent! I highly suggest it. In an effort to show my blue and gold pride, Emerson is modeling GU's finest fashion, the t-shirt.

Will's 3rd Birthday Party

Will turns 3 tomorrow (Monday) and Amber and Jonathan had his birthday party this past Saturday at a place in Olathe called Pump it Up. It was awesome- the kids had a great time and it was fun seeing everyone.

BTW- Speaking of peanuts, there are 4 people in this picture... Will's getting a baby sister or brother! He's already said he prefers a brother... Stacy and Amber are due days apart so April should be a fun time. I'm so excited for all of them!!!

Colorado Wedding

This past weekend, Ryan, Jonathan and Amber and I drove out to Colorado for a family friend's wedding in Beaver Creek. Ryan's parents drove down from Iowa to stay with Emerson- it was my first time away from her for more than a day or so. Some tears were shed (mine, not hers!) the night before while we were packing but we had a really great time and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

On Friday, we stayed with Nick Bott in Denver. It was great to see him and do some catching up.

Arriving at the reception. Beano's Cabin is secluded on the side of a mountain. It's a private road that we had to take a shuttle bus to get to. It was so private and intimate. (Notice we're being "greeted" with drinks???)


My mom and Nat made the trip out as well.

We were hanging out after dinner and Amber pointed out an unvited guest at the reception...



This thing must have weighed 30 pounds- it was huge! The waiter just shooed him out with a broom like it was nothing! I guess porcupines live under the deck at this place but the staff feeds them to keep them around. I'm not sure why.

The bride, Katie Osborn, and her brother Jason. Jonathan, Jason, Katie and I grew up together. Our parents were best friends and we always took ski trips to Colorado. It was fitting to go to Colorado to see Katie get married.

The trip was great and it's so good to be back and be with my girl. She did great for her grandma and grandpa and we were thankful we were able to have a little getaway. Back to the ole grind!
